We’ve grown out of necessity—but not out of touch.

Inherent Commercial was built by a small group of people who care deeply about the work, the people we work with, and the clients who place their trust in us. That hasn’t changed.

Our vision remains steady: to never outgrow the smaller jobs that keep us grounded and build lasting trust. Whether it’s a multi-phase development or a modest tenant improvement, we approach each project with the same level of care and commitment.

Even as our team grows, we work hard to remove barriers—not create them. We stay accessible, communicative, and focused on simplifying what can often be a complex process.

Because construction isn’t easy. But it should feel easier when we’re on your team.

ADAM COOPER

Director of Procurement

With a foundation built on craftsmanship and a career shaped by complexity, Adam Cooper serves as Director of Procurement at Inherent Commercial—where his deep field experience, meticulous eye for detail, and strategic mindset ensure projects start strong and stay on track. From managing vendor relationships to sourcing mission-critical materials, Adam brings a steady hand and sharp focus to one of the most vital parts of the construction process.

Originally from Seattle, Adam studied at both Ivy Tech and Purdue before diving into the construction industry. One of his most memorable projects was a biochemical research lab at the University of Illinois—a high-stakes build that required precision planning, schedule control, and an understanding of both systems and structure. It was the kind of project where procurement wasn’t just a task—it was a difference-maker.

Adam lives in Pendleton with his wife and their beloved Heeler/Beagle mix. When he’s not sourcing critical packages or coordinating vendor strategy, he’s probably landscaping, doing carpentry projects, or detailing his car with showroom-level polish. He’s a bit snobby about his lawn (and proud of it), and if you hear “Here Comes the Boom” playing, he’s likely getting fired up for a challenge.

In his role as Director of Procurement, Adam is an integral part of Inherent Commercial’s growth—helping to establish new market locations and fostering trusted partnerships.

Known for her positive energy and steady presence, Alexa brings with her years of construction experience, a love for problem-solving, and a genuine passion for learning something new every day.

Her reading list ranges from Who Moved My Cheese? to the Costco flyer, and her first concert—Joan Jett and Cheap Trick—still earns her some serious cred.

While she doesn’t play favorites with her projects, Alexa finds fulfillment in the growth and challenges that come with each one. To her, success is about people—helping teams function smoothly, keeping communication clear, and making sure no detail slips through the cracks.

BRAYTON UNDERHILL
Q

BRAYTON UNDERHILL

Growing up on the southwest side of Indianapolis, IN, where I became an avid golfer. After high school, I attended Ball State University, setting the foundation for my career in construction. I’m grateful to have worked on some impressive projects, like the Weld County Jail 2 West Expansion in Greeley, Colorado—a 130,000 sq ft addition that added 381 beds, including a 15 cell “close-watch” pod, and a master control center.
I now live in Avon, IN, with my wife, Jenna, who I’m lucky enough to call my high school sweetheart, our beautiful daughter, Calla, and our two dogs, Louie (a Weimaraner) and Pippa (a Goldendoodle). In my free time, you can find me golfing, running, traveling, or spending time with family and friends.

I’m a big fan of crab legs and can’t resist a meal at Ohana Brazilian Steakhouse at Disney World. One of my favorite memories is taking my daughter Calla to Myrtle Beach for her first experience in the ocean. My wife Jenna and I also share a love for music, with standout memories like a 4-day country festival in Fruita, Colorado’s mountains. Currently, I’m reading The Power of Negative Thinking by Bob Knight, but Shoe Dog by Phil Knight remains an all-time favorite.

COLLIN REILLY
Q

COLLIN REILLY

Collin Reilly is a builder at heart and a collaborator by nature. As a Senior Project Manager at Inherent Commercial, he thrives in dynamic environments where he can lead teams, solve problems, and bring structure to complexity. One of his favorite projects was BOLD on Blvd in St. Peters, Missouri—a 250+ unit development that challenged him to grow not just as a manager, but as a teammate. That experience cemented his belief that great construction leadership starts with humility and a shared commitment to the work.

Originally from Le Mars, Iowa, and later Marshall, Minnesota, Collin started mowing lawns at age 11 and turned it into a small landscaping business by high school. After graduating from Marshall High School, he went on to earn a degree from Iowa State University and kicked off his professional construction journey as a Project Engineer at TWG.

Collin’s career has taken him across the country—working on projects in Iowa, Indiana, Wisconsin, Missouri, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, and Louisiana—but now he calls Cumberland, Indiana home. He shares his life with his partner Taylor and their black Lab, Cash (affectionately nicknamed “The Man in Black”). They’re currently renovating their home and building a 34’x36’ barn in their backyard—just another project on Collin’s ever-growing list.

Grounded, driven, and deeply committed to building things that matter, Collin believes he’s doing exactly what he was meant to do—helping people grow through challenge and change.

Cora has a fascinating interest in true crime and murder mysteries, often indulging in podcasts on the subject. However, don’t expect her to watch a horror movie anytime soon! While Cora is generally easygoing, she has a particular preference when it comes to eggs: scrambled, overcooked, and smothered in cheese and hot sauce.

Cora has proven to be an invaluable asset to the team.

CRAIG VANCUREN

CRAIG VANCUREN

I was raised in Goshen, IN where I graduated from Goshen High School. I furthered my education at Kentucky Christian University in Business Management. While there, I met my beautiful wife and moved to her hometown of Columbus, IN.  We’ve been married for 29 years and have 5 wonderful children (ages 15 to 25), a great son-in-law, and a fabulous grandson. Life is moving fast!  I love being outside in every season: hunting, fishing, kayaking, and hiking or mountain biking with my family. I also have a love for cooking outside over a fire or creating a makeshift smoker to enjoy the rich flavors of wood smoke.

I have been in the construction world for over 35 years and can honestly say I have a real passion for our projects. Seeing a project from conception to reality is something special. I have worked on many multi-site, multi-family projects throughout the mid-west and for many years have been building assisted living facilities throughout the Indy area, while also building a few churches along the way. I enjoy being a mentor and have had the opportunity to officially and unofficially mentor high school and college students as well as young adults through education and employment.  One goal I have on every project is to build a lasting relationship, not only with the client, but also with the subcontractors. The result is usually a repeat client and subcontractors that will pick Inherent over our competitors. I am currently a Senior Superintendent.

His passion lies in bringing construction projects to life—finding creative solutions, keeping crews moving, and delivering quality results.

Originally from Lake Orion, Michigan, Ed got his start in construction working summer jobs with his stepdad before launching his own career. ELIAS VANCUREN
Q

IAN BROWN

Born and raised in Columbus, Indiana, Elias VanCuren brings a strong work ethic, sharp attention to detail, and a passion for problem-solving to his role as Project Engineer at Inherent Commercial.

After graduating from Columbus East High School—where he played football and captained the swim team—Elias went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree in Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management from Ball State University.

Elias’ hands-on experience working on high-end custom homes and lakefront properties. His favorite project to date was a custom home build where he had the opportunity to contribute from the very first stage through to completion. That sense of ownership and pride in the finished product continues to drive his work today.

Elias enjoys spending time outdoors—whether it’s fishing, hunting, or just sitting by a fire with family and friends. Elias once went parasailing in Mexico, but the real thrill for him is taking part in meaningful construction projects and learning something new every day. With a strong sense of gratitude for the role he’s in, Elias is committed to delivering projects that reflect Inherent’s standards of excellence and partnership.

IAN BROWN
Q

IAN BROWN

I am a native of Iowa and Nebraska (hence the 402 area code on my phone and the Husker sticker on my vehicle) but have lived in Brownsburg for over 10 years now. I have two children (Cameryn and Crew) in the Brownsburg school system and am a total sports dad – most weekends involve some sort of teen and youth sporting event. I do try to get some fishing in when not at the gym/park/football field. Nothing better than getting outside for some walleye and smallmouths.

Pre-construction management is a new venture for me after 30 years of higher education and I am excited about it. I coached college basketball for 20 years including 10 years as the head coach at my Alma Mater Doane University before moving to Indiana and teaching/coaching at Roncalli High School. While at Roncalli, my summer months were filled working for AFV Electrical which does give me some perspective on how construction projects are handled as well as a short stint in the commercial roofing industry as an inspector.

JIM HADLEY
Q

JIM HADLEY

I was raised in Anderson, Indiana, and after graduating from Anderson High School, I joined the US Navy. I was stationed on the USS Constellation aircraft carrier in San Diego, where my job was fire and rescue on the flight deck. During my Westpac deployment, I visited many countries around the globe, and midway through the tour, our fleet was diverted to the Gulf to assist in Desert Storm/ the Gulf War.

When I returned home from active duty, I jumped right into construction, a field that has always interested me since I was younger. I was that “shop class” kid in school. Initially, I started by framing custom homes. After framing, I was given an opportunity in residential remodeling. I really enjoyed remodeling historic homes in downtown Indy and throughout the city for over 20 years.

In 2016, I obtained my associate’s degree in HVAC. After graduating, I worked as a residential/commercial technician for six years. I was then given an opportunity in commercial management, and I have truly enjoyed learning about this side of the construction industry.

I reside in Pendleton with my wife, three kids, and two lazy cats. I enjoy sitting by an early morning campfire with a cup of Black Rifle Coffee. One of my most enjoyable hobbies is fishing, but not your everyday fishing. I crave ice fishing when the colder weather rolls around. Those are some of the best fishing memories my son and I have made, and I hope we continue to make many more. Going on beach vacations with my family over the years has been awesome, especially because of the saltwater fishing opportunities. I enjoy spending as much time as possible with my young adult children before they grow up and move out. I also like listening to good music while enjoying a nice cigar at the end of the day!

JOE RESENDIZ
Q

JOE RESENDIZ

Joe is a seasoned professional with a diverse background that spans the military, athletics, and construction. A Chicago native, he attended Lane Tech High School before serving in the US Army. His passion for adventure is evident in his hobbies, which include scuba diving, traveling, hiking, and playing guitar and harmonica.

With a love for exploration, Joe has conquered the Great Blue Hole in Belize and scaled the heights of the Tikal Pyramids in Guatemala. His adventurous spirit extends to his career, where he finds fulfillment in constructing towering structures. One of his favorite projects is the Gridiron in Seattle, a project that involved transforming a 120-year-old warehouse into a 12-story superstructure. Involves building a superstructure of a 120 year old ship building warehouse across the street of the Seahawks Stadium bringing the warehouse from level 2 to 12 stories was very exciting. He learned about setting the super structure seismic steel along with the auger pile and expansive material to put a 12-man flag at the top for the Seahawks which stands as a testament to his passion and dedication for the industry.

When not challenging physical and mental boundaries, Joe enjoys the finer things in life, including Italian and Greek cuisine, and the music of Elton John, Billy Joel, and Van Morrison. He currently resides in Indianapolis with his significant other and grandchildren, and shares his home with two beloved pets, Kujo and Chloe.

A unique blend of experience, passion, and curiosity, Joe brings a dynamic perspective to any team.

JOEY WILLIAMS
Q

JOEY WILLIAMS

With a background that spans both custom homebuilding and high-profile commercial work, Joey Williams brings precision, grit, and a competitive edge to his role as a Superintendent at Inherent Commercial. Over the past eight years, Joey has built everything from high-end custom homes—including a personal favorite in Chatham Hills—to estimating large-scale renovations at legendary sites like Notre Dame Stadium. Whether he’s managing budgets, bidding work, or collaborating with design teams, Joey thrives on getting the details right from day one.

Born and raised in Brownsburg, Indiana, Joey is a graduate of Brownsburg High School and studied at IUPUI. He got his start as a Concrete laborer—an early intro to hands on field work in fast-paced environments. That same mindset now guides his approach to construction: stay humble, stay focused, and always deliver more than expected.

Joey lives in Noblesville with his wife of 10 years, Angie, and their four kids. When he’s not building at work, he’s coaching youth baseball and softball, golfing with his wife and son, or grilling out with the family. He’s a firm believer in the motto “Look good, feel good, play good”—and yes, he’s a little snobby about it. From generic brands to subpar materials, if it’s not the best, it’s not for him.

Joey is all-in on every project, passionate about pushing for quality, and laser-focused on building things that last. To him, construction is more than a career—it’s about creating spaces where people live, gather, and make memories.

JOSHUA HINDSLEY
Q

JOSHUA HINDSLEY

Born and raised in Union City, Indiana, Joshua Hindsley’s passion for hard work and hands-on projects began with his first job cleaning stalls, baling hay, and training horses. This early experience sparked a lifelong love for horseback riding and showing.

With over twenty years of carpentry experience, Joshua brings a deep well of expertise to his role as Trades Manager at Inherent Commercial. Before joining Inherent, he owned and managed his own home renovation company, where one of his favorite projects was rebuilding his family’s last house and barn. This 100-year-old farmhouse was gutted and meticulously restored by Joshua and his wife, with minimal outside help—a project he takes great pride in. For Joshua, it stands out as a true career highlight. If he weren’t in his current role, you’d likely find him training and showing horses, his other great passion.

Outside of work, Joshua enjoys camping and trail riding with his family, tackling home improvement projects, and spending quality time with his two energetic boys. He currently resides in Alexandria, Indiana, with his wife, who he describes as “the best.” While Joshua has a love for Chevy trucks (despite currently driving a Ford), he’s also particular about his preference for red tractors—firmly in the Case IH camp over John Deere.

A fun fact that surprises many is that Joshua raised and rehabbed baby raccoons growing up. At home, he’s surrounded by animals, including three dogs (though he admits to claiming only two), a cat, and five horses. He’s also still working on convincing his wife to let him add a hedgehog to the mix.

JUSTIN BARNHART
Q

JUSTIN BARNHART

Justin is a lifelong Hoosier, born and raised in Pendleton, Indiana. His early years were marked by hard work on a local farm, where he developed a strong work ethic.

An avid outdoorsman, Justin enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, and exploring the great outdoors. His competitive spirit is evident in his high school wrestling and football days. When he’s not building, he can often be found with his sons at their sporting events, fishing or really anything outdoors.

A self-described thrill-seeker, Justin has conquered the sky in an open cockpit biplane, scaled the Black Hills, and even faced down multiple grizzly bears on an Alaskan adventure. His love for exploration extends beyond the wild, as he and his family have visited 30 national parks, collecting stamps along the way.

With a passion for crafting, Justin takes pride in his work. His favorite project to date is a stunning Lake Michigan home built during the challenging COVID-19 era. The home’s breathtaking views and the owners’ continued delight serve as a testament to his skill and dedication.

When asked about his dream career, Justin envisions himself as a riverboat captain, navigating the nation’s waterways. Though his feet are firmly planted on solid ground for now, his adventurous spirit and love for challenges make him a valuable asset to our team.

LIZ BEATH
Q

LIZ BEATH

With over a decade of construction accounting experience, Liz Beath brings both precision and personality to the Inherent Commercial team. Known for her strong work ethic and genuine care for her coworkers, Liz ensures the numbers add up while keeping the people behind the projects top of mind. Her passion lies not only in tracking budgets and timelines, but in being part of a team that builds things with purpose.

Liz grew up in Northern Indiana’s Amish Country and now lives in Noblesville with her husband and their four children. Her journey into the construction industry has been shaped by years of hands-on experience, a natural knack for organization, and an unwavering commitment to getting things done right. Joining Inherent has given her the opportunity to keep growing in a field she knows and loves.

Outside of work, Liz finds joy in the simple things—camping with her family, beach days, and treasure-hunting through thrift stores. Her idea of a dream job? Selling T-shirts on the beach with her toes in the sand. She’s also a proud dog mom to a Shih Tzu named June, and she once found herself unexpectedly co-piloting a 10-person plane between St. John and St. Croix. (No pilot license—just nerves of steel.)

Whether she’s reconciling a project ledger or navigating a tiny island runway, Liz brings calm, competence, and character to everything she does. She’s excited to keep building a strong foundation with Inherent Commercial—one project (and spreadsheet) at a time.

LUIS GALLARDO
Q

LUIS GALLARDO

Luis Gallardo brings a unique blend of engineering expertise and on-site construction experience to Inherent Commercial. One of his favorite projects to date is The Edge, a multifamily project in Indianapolis.  It included a massive undertaking that featured the largest ADS stormwater chamber system in the city and a 75,000-square-foot post-tension concrete slab. This project solidified his passion for complex builds and problem-solving under pressure.

Originally from Cabimas, Venezuela, Luis earned his degree in Computer Engineering from URBE University. While his academic background is in tech, he found his true calling in construction—something that often surprises people who meet him. Luis thrives in fast-paced environments and dreams of one day running his own construction company.

Now living in Whitestown, Indiana, Luis is a proud dad to his 8-year-old daughter and a British Shorthair cat named Luka. When he’s not on a job site, you might find him riding his motorcycle, watching baseball (his sport of choice growing up), or enjoying sushi at his favorite spot, Kobayashi. His walk-up song? “Narco” by Timmy Trumpet and Blasterjaxx—an anthem that mirrors his high-energy approach to life and work. From bungee jumping to building foundations, Luis doesn’t shy away from a challenge.

From high-profile fire protection systems to award-winning churches, Mike’s work is grounded in precision, planning, and people-first project execution.

One of Mike’s favorite projects was Traders Point Christian Church, a job defined by detailed preplanning and meaningful relationships. That experience shaped his view on what makes a project truly successful: not just the finished product, but the collaboration and trust built along the way. He also looks back fondly on the French Lick/West Baden Springs remodels with RYAN Fire Protection—historic, challenging, and rewarding in equal measure.

Though he jokes that his dream job might be deep sea fishing, Mike’s heart is firmly in construction. With a calm demeanor, deep technical knowledge, and a focus on strong planning and relationships, he plays a vital role in delivering projects that stand the test of time.

TRIPP WALKER

Tripp Walker brings a sharp analytical mind, deep curiosity, and a calm, steady presence to his role as Preconstruction Manager at Inherent Commercial. With a background in both field and office roles—and a résumé that includes notable multifamily projects across the country—Tripp excels at turning complex ideas into clear budgets, reliable timelines, and successful bids. One of his favorite builds to date was The Axis Apartments in downtown Indianapolis, where he cut his teeth as an Assistant Superintendent on a major mixed-use development. The scale and complexity hooked him—and the rest is history.

Tripp grew up in New Castle, Indiana, where he still lives today with his wife and their four children. A proud graduate of New Castle Chrysler High School (“home of the largest and finest fieldhouse in the world”), he went on to earn a degree in Biology and Biochemistry from IU East—though these days, he’s far more likely to be building apartment budgets than running lab reports.

He got his first taste of hard work running his own lawn care business at 16. This early experience shaped the grit and determination he brings to every project. Over the years, Tripp has contributed to work at Flaherty & Collins, TWG, and T&H, participating in a range of luxury, LIHTC and market-rate projects in places like Atlanta, Oklahoma City, Raleigh, Rochester, and across Indiana.

Off the clock, Tripp enjoys hiking, camping, fishing, and shooting sports. He’s also a motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed the twisty roads on his beloved Triumph Sprint. At home he shares a life with his pup Benny, the cat Karma, and a full house of family chaos.

Whether he’s creating a conceptual budget, collaborating on early design, or strategizing contractor selections, Tripp brings humility, humor, and rock-solid reliability to every step of the process.

ZAK BATT

ZAK BATT

I was born and raised on the east side of Indianapolis and currently reside in Westfield. Thanks to my parents’ incredible generosity, I graduated from Cathedral High School and went on to work in the restaurant industry. I worked as a server and bartender for multiple years and found enjoyment in the daily person-to-person interactions. After the pandemic took hold, I changed careers and started working for a commercial roofing company as a technician. Once again, I found fulfillment which turned into a passion for human interaction and helping others. Now I’m lucky enough to find myself as an Assistant Project Manager here at Inherent, where I’m hoping to learn the ins and outs of the construction industry with my incredibly knowledgeable coworkers and peers.

In my free time, I try to find opportunities to relax with friends. I enjoy watching football, going to local breweries, and hanging out anywhere I can find a good conversation and a great plate of food.
